When people first see the term moose hockey, they no doubt do what everyone does and scour the Internet for information on what they believe to be a new version of ice hockey when it is in fact the name of the local Jackson Hole hockey team. Moose Hockey Games are quite the attraction in the area, with games being played on weekends and drawing in hundreds of people from across the town and local area. It is a fun night out and absolutely nothing to do with moose!

Moose Hockey? Not just another form of ice hockey, but in fact the local team for Jackson Hole. With two games on weekends with the season running through from November to March, the excitement builds as this long established team gets up and skates its heart out to the beat of local cheers and typical hockey style music. It is a great thing to take kids to as games are designed for everyone.

The Moose Hockey team has been playing for many decades and though their website has no clear date when they began, the history section shows a photo that could date back to the fifties. However, they still play in one of the more traditional localized hockey arenas as found in most US small towns and attract a fair following locally. Their games are played on Fridays and Saturdays in the evening, but when they play away games they will stay put for two games before returning to Jackson Hole. Currently the rival teams that they play include Sun Valley Suns and Trail Smoke Eaters. The traditional concession stand with the usual snacks – hotdogs, hamburgers, mini pizzas, popcorn, candy, pop, hot chocolate and coffee – are available before, during and after the games.

Games are held at the Snow King Center. Tickets are $8 per adult, $3 for kids eight and under and seasonal and late season tickets are available at $140. All employees of Teton Village receive a fifty percent discount if they produce their employee ID. Fans can enjoy Moose spectator evenings where the team shows its appreciation by giving away discounts and Moose souvenirs.

The center is easy to get to, being located in the center of Jackson Hole itself. The Snow King Ice Center also offers free style, stick and puck and public skates before and after Moose hockey games. It can be found at 400 East Snow King Avenue.
